The last day of a Mission Trip is always bittersweet. Of course, we all look forward to getting back home with our families, but at the same time, it feels like we are just beginning to experience and appreciate what a Mission trip gives us.

The last night of CAP is shared not only with our Mission Group, but with those we worked with and for all week. This gives us a couple of hours to visit with CAP personnel away from the work site and to get to know them on a more personal level. We were blessed this year to have both of the homeowners we served come to the site for dinner. Both Martha and Adrien were a delight to talk with, and they were so pleased with the work our teams had done. We were also treated to a video of the many photos taken at the work sites over the week. Many of which were shared here.

After we said goodbye to our guests, we got right to work on the job list we needed to finish before we leave for home tomorrow morning. After about an hour, the garbage was taken out, the rugs vacuumed, and the floors swept.

At that point in the evening, everyone simply sat around and talked with each other. We shared stories about the week, our lives when we get home, our families, and much more.

This evening typifies what I mean when I say that every mission trip unfolds in a very similar way. We all start off nervous and excited about the work we will do. By day two and three, the focus shifts to those we are working with, and by day four, that focus is on how this journey has affected and changed us and the way we now look at the world a little differently. It is always an honor to be a witness and participant in this transformation. It is particularly to see this take place in our younger Missioners.

We all head our separate ways tomorrow morning with the promise of getting together soon. I hope that happens!

Please pray we all have safe journeys home to our loved ones.

Please consider going on a Mission trip next year and allow it to change your life!
