California Wildfires
Our hearts and prayers go out to those in the Los Angeles area whose lives have been turned upside down by the devastating wildfires that have decimated several regions of California. We have had donors ask if the Mission of Hope will collect funds for those affected by this tragedy. We are exploring options under which we would be comfortable collecting and distributing funds. However, at this time, we have not identified anyone in the area who can be the point person for fu

Your Donations at work feeding families
Thanks to the love and care of the North Country Mission of Hope Donors, our food programs provide rice, beans, cooking oil, and washing soap to approximately 160 families who face food insecurity and malnutrition. Your support is crucial as the need for our services continues to grow. For many families, the meals you help to provide might be the only one these families might have. As with all our programs, the cost continues to rise, and the need continues to grow. In additi

Hurricane Helene
We have all witnessed the urgent need for assistance in the wake of Hurricane Helene's devastation. In terms of damage and the vast area affected, this storm has been compared with Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Our hearts and prayers go out to all those experiencing the destruction and, in particular, to those who have lost loved ones. Several donors have approached the Mission to inquire if we will collect funds to assist those suffering these devastating losses. I have spoken

Turning Trash into Cash
Today a group of Mission volunteers gathered together all the recyclable metal we have collected over the past 6 months. With the help of our volunteers and the good people over at Moore's Recycling, we turned over 3 1/2 tons of discarded metal into cash to help us with our programs and to maintain the Sr. Debbie Blow, OP Warehouse, and Operations Center. A big win for the Mission and the environment. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this possible.

Thank You!
A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, and supported the McSweeny's/North Country Mission of Hope Golf Classic this year. Yes, the tournament was canceled, but that does not diminish the effort and generosity of everyone involved. Every year, we give out a plaque to a person or persons who have gone above and beyond in their support of the Golf Classic. On the 20th anniversary of the tournament, the committee felt it is only fitting that the award be given to

HOPE prevails
Despite the cancellation of our annual golf tournament due to the remnants of Hurricane Debby, the Mission of Hope stood strong. The wet weather may have disrupted our plans, but it couldn't dampen the spirit of our volunteers and players. With the help of our partners, Steve and Joann Farrel from McSweeny's and Dee Vivian from the Barracks, we were able to offer an opportunity for tournament registrants to come to the course and pick up their gift bags, visit and have some M

McSweeny's/Mission Golf Tournament was Cancelled due to a severe weather threat
This morning, it became clear that the path and pace of Tropical Storm Debby had changed. The window of clearing that had been forecast yesterday had significantly shrunk, and the time that the effects of the tropical storm are going to hit our region is early afternoon rather than late evening. As I said in yesterday's email, it was our hope that we would be able to hold the tournament as scheduled; however, we no longer believe this can be done safely. After discussing sev
